Brake Pads Friction Materials-Silica Powder, is also purified from siliCarenite or sand stone. It is widely used as an inorganic friction raw material filler. Silica powder improves the friction products’ wear resistance, as well as the friction coefficient. Silica is a high Mohs scale of hardness filler, it need to be grinded into very small particles, usually up to 200 mesh or even 325 mesh. Otherwise its hardness will scratch the mating plates and generate great brake noise.
